Mom’s Hand

2023 Ceramic Sculptures “Mom’s hand” is a colloquial term for a condition characterized by repetitive strain leading to tendonitis. During her time caring for her daughter, the caregiver’s hands accumulate bodily memories, relying on the same hands to create sculpture. Functional narrative of caretaking objectifies the body. In contrast, she transforms the act of sculpting into a revisitation of emotional relics. The past and future of the mother-daughter relationship collapse into a singular imaginative moment, blending memories and aspiration within the act of creation.
